Nominated by a Friend of the charity, we are delighted to be supporting Ian McKenzie who has been a resident in a nursing home in Blackheath since 2016 after contracting the Meningococcal virus which then led to a stroke and sepsis leaving Ian unable to move any of his four limbs, incapable of speech and requiring feeding through a peg directly into his stomach. Ian is an incredibly positive person who smiles and laughs a lot despite his problems – he deserves all the help he can get. We have been supporting him with speech therapy sessions and we are now waiting for an appointment with wheelchair services to improve the comfort of his wheelchair.
