Geoff Payne
Geoff was a devoted family man and loyal friend enjoying many lifelong friendships and we aim to reflect this in the charity, which has been set up in his loving memory. He was a man of many talents but is probably most fondly remembered by family and friends as quick witted, funny, sociable, musical (a whizz at Name That Tune), supportive, unassuming, energetic, ambitious and was very much loved.
He lived life to the full: playing bass guitar in a string of bands from the age of 17; travelling frequently all over the world, mainly for work but also for pleasure; running nearly every day; going to the gym, cycling, swimming, playing squash or tennis every week and a keen scuba diver on holidays. He set up his first successful international market research business in his late twenties and finally retired at 70. Living in London and owning two properties abroad, life was never dull.
Geoff was given his Parkinson’s diagnosis at the age of 66 though had surely lived with it for longer and tragically died from a sudden heart attack six years later when on holiday in France whilst eating out at his favourite local restaurant.
His business success has meant that his family are incredibly fortunate to be able to give something back by setting up a small family charity.
This newly formed charity has a lot to live up to and reflecting the diversity of a life well lived, The Geoff Payne Family & Friends Charity has been set up as a community minded, networking charity where we particularly encourage family and friends to nominate smaller charities or individuals who they feel would benefit from a grant. We hope that this direct involvement, and seeing where our donations go, will encourage family and friends to fundraise in some way, big or small, for the charity.
Please join our community and give directly to worthy causes of your choosing, to help us truly make a difference.
